The Level 1 Teacher Training Program is the first level of a three tiered KRI certification program in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan ®. It consists of 220 hours (180 hours in class and 40 hours independent study) fulfilling the Yoga Alliance’s national standard for a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). With your KRI certification, you can apply for and receive a Yoga Alliance Certificate.

This Foundations course introduces the student to the principles and practices of the self-sensory human, and explores how Kundalini Yoga and yogic lifestyle can harmonize and uplift the human experience and awaken your true potential. There are six principle components in a Level 1 program:

*Kriya and Meditation: The foundation of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®
The theory and practice of Kundalini Yoga kriyas (yoga sets), asanas, and mudras. Explore the nature of the mind and its training through Kundalini Yoga meditations, mantras, and pranayam (breathing techniques).

*Humanology and Philosophy: The Lifestyle of a Kundalini Yoga Teacher
The history and tradition of Kundalini Yoga, as well as the underlying philosophy behind all yogic practices. The technologies of Kundalini Yoga as they apply to healing and humanology (the science of daily living), including diet, nutrition, and relationships.

*Anatomy & Physiology: Essentials of Yogic and Functional Anatomy
Traditional Western anatomy, its purpose and function, including the respiratory, nervous, immune, musculoskeletal, circulatory, endocrine, and digestive systems and their relation to the practice and teaching of yoga. Also Yogic anatomy and the energy systems of the body including the chakras, nadis, pranas and vayus, and the ten yogic bodies.

*Consciousness of a Teacher: Virtues and Values of Living in the Golden Chain
The skills and techniques to become an effective instructor, including practical strategies for teaching beginners, ethical guidelines, curriculum development, and the transformational role of the teacher in developing a successful yoga practice.

*The Master’s Touch: Cultivating a Connection to the Master
Connect with Yogi Bhajan through DVD classes and study.

*The Practicum: Teaching from Day One
Practical experience instructing a yoga class under the supervision of a KRI Yoga Teacher Trainer, receiving written evaluation and student feedback.

With this program, you will share in the profound experience of spiritual, physical and mental growth while being supported both by your Teacher Trainers and other teachers in training. The authentic experience of your personal transformation is held in highest regard by your professional KRI certified team therefore you can depend on their availability as well as empathy, encouragement and guidance. We are here to serve you throughout your journey of self mastery.

Lead  Teacher Trainer:

*Shabad Saroop Singh is a Kundalini Yoga Lead Teacher Trainer, co-founder and director of Equilibrium, and an independent business owner. In 1981 he met Yogi Bhajan and has since studied under his personal tutelage. He has been teaching yoga for 30 years and regularly travels to study and deepen his knowledge of yoga. Shabad shares the teachings of yoga with a rare warmth, humanity, wisdom and a sense of humour. Teaching for him is a vehicle to serve others and to contribute to the upliftment of humanity.

Teacher Trainer:

*Nirmal Singh, a Kundalini Yoga Professional Teacher Trainer, has taught Kundalini Yoga since 1999. He has devoted himself to the study and practice of  yoga and meditation and holds the teachings of this ancient yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan) with utmost respect. Nirmal, the creator of ‘The Wellness Path’ producing 3HO yoga-related events, retreats and workshops, is sincere in his commitment to a yogic lifestyle and believes self-empowerment begins with dedication.

Tuition:
Registration fee: $300 +HST ($339) required to hold a space (unless full price paid);
Early registration: $2,800 +HST ($3,164.00) if paid by September 6, 2013 (less registration fee if paid separately);
Regular price: $3,150 +HST ($3,559.50) if paid after September 6, 2013, but before course starts;
Payment Plan: $3,150 +HST ($3,559.50) if paid as follows:

Installments:
$1,250 +HST ($1,412.50) which includes $300 deposit, dated September 6, 2013 (or $950 +HST = $1,073.50 if registration fee paid separately)
$950 +HST ($1,073.50) dated October 4, 2013
$950 +HST ($1,073.50) dated November 1, 2013

Note: 10% discount applies to full-time students or seniors over 65 years of age
$2,520 +HST ($2,847.60) before September 6, 2013; $2,835 +HST ($3,203.55) after September 6, 2013

Refund Policy:
All requests to withdraw from the teacher training course must be received in writing. Those withdrawing prior to September 6th, 2013 are eligible for a refund, minus a non-refundable $300 +HST administrative fee. Those withdrawing after September 6th, but before the start of the 2nd weekend, are eligible for a partial refund of $1000.00 +HST only if full course payment received. There will be no refunds after the start of the 2nd weekend.
